Michael Jordan is widely known as the greatest player in NBA history. But Jordan’s the first to admit without the right teammates — including the utility players who maybe didn’t score much but did all the little things to help the team win — he wouldn’t have won six NBA titles. For SRX, that utility player is Mark Midtlyng.

“I have kind of become the guy who basketball and football recruiters refer to as an ‘athlete.’ I can play point guard or power forward if I have to,” said Midtlyng, Two Rivers Terminal sales and procurement manager who’s in his eighth year with the SRX team. “You’ve got to be able to be in the middle of everything in the sulfur business. It’s a good way to be.”

A long history in the sulfur business

The ag retail and fertilizer industry veteran has decades of experience in the fertilizer marketplace for a range of companies. When he joined the Two Rivers team as sales and procurement manager for SRX in 2015, he brought a diversity of experience in sourcing sulfur and other fertilizer products around North America. He leverages it in working with everyone in the supply chain from suppliers and buyers to truck drivers and field representatives to get SRX products to grower customers where and when they need them.

“I’ve known a lot of our suppliers and buyers for years, and they understand we have the capabilities to supply a lot of needs,” Midtlyng said. “We have access to a lot of supply chains and logistics so we can always look out for our customers’ best interests in securing the product they need.”
